Project 365. Day 30

2011-1-30 Hula 007

Meet Hula. She is our crazy Boston Terrier. She is only about 14 inches tall but can jump 5 feet straight up in the air. She is part kangaroo. She also makes pig noises. She can fetch a ball as fast as lightning. She looks very serious but is all fun and games.

Project 365. Day 29

2011-1-29
My neighbor is the birthday party planner diva. Everything was amazing. First there was a jumper for the 25 kids! That would have been plenty for me. But she didn't stop there.  When each kid arrived she took their picture and made them a Lego photo badge. There was a Lego scavenger hunt all over the house and yard. The kids searched for clues and got a prize at the end. Next there was a nerf gun war. She had the whole garage transformed into a battle zone. It was set up with giant cardboard forts. There was even a fog machine and strobe lights!!! She hand made a Lego pinata and a Lego cake. She is incredible! Happy Birthday, Jackson!!

Project 365. Day 28

2011-1-28 015

Today is the Lego Brick's birthday (and my friend Carmine's, but I won't embarass her today)!

On January 28, 1958 the Lego brick was patented in Denmark. We have a book (probably not a surprise to you) about the history of Legos and it shows all the old Lego sets.  There is also a fun book on all the Lego minifigures made and a book on all the Lego Star Wars sets.

Here are some fun facts for you on this special day.

1961-Legos started selling in the US

1978-The first mini figures are made

1999-Legoland opens in Carlsbad, CA

19 billion Legos bricks are produced each year. Thats 36,000 every minute.

There are 2,400 different brick shapes.

And Paula showed me this clever blog called a LEGO a day. I wish I thought of that.

Project 365. Day 27

Project 365 Day27

Coupons.  This is my recent hobby/addiction. I started couponing about a year ago out of a need to save some money. I was skeptical at first. I thought I would just be saving pocket change but I can't believe how much it is possible to save and how much stuff you can actually get for free from stores! I also had no idea how fun it would be (well fun in a nerdy way I guess). It is like a game of how much you can save.  I heard one coupon lady say, "If I win the lottery, I will still use coupons". So this is my coupon box. I bring it in the store with me all the time, never know what deals are to be found! I was in Target earlier this week and the checker says to me, "OH, I remember you. You're the Box Lady" Hahaha.

Project 365. Day 25

2011-1-25 008

The laundry was extra noisy this morning. Apparently my son's treasures from this past weekend never made it out of his pockets. One of my sons collects everything he finds on the ground. He is constantly searching the ground for anything. He has found some interesting things in the past but usually it is rocks. Guess I need to start checking the pockets better.

Speak For The Weak

Speak4theweak Yesterday was the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade. Please pray for our nation and our human race. I have posted a few very valuable links about abortion. If you regret a choice you have made and have a heavy burden on you please turn to Jesus for forgiveness and healing (1 John 1:8-9 and Hebrews 4: 15-16).

 1. Abort73 - get informed about abortion

2.  10 Reasons Why it is Wrong to Take the Life of Unborn Children by John Piper

3.  Every year John Piper gives a Sanctity of Life message.  These are available to listen to for free on DesiringGod.org

4.  DesiringGod.org lists some very useful resources for speaking against abortion (and additional resources here).

5. Randy Alcorn also has a list of pro-life resources.

6.  Healing After Abortion: God's Mercy Is For You by David Powlison

"The destruction of conceived human life — whether embryonic, fetal, or viable — is an assault on the unique person-forming work of God. Abortion is an assault on God, not just man. God is uniquely at work in the womb from the moment of conception. This is the clear testimony of Psalm 139:13 and Job 31:15."  - John Piper

"For you formed my inward parts;  you knitted me together in my mother's womb."  Psalm 139:13

Project 365 Day 22
We went to the Discovery Science Center today. When we got there I realized I forgot to put the stroller back in the van. Huge mistake. I'm very worn out form chasing a toddler all day.

Project 365. Day 18

Project 365 Day 18

I wish I bought 10 of these. You press their belly and the bottom of their feet light up. Mason declared that this was the BEST Christmas gift he got. Yes, we did buy the boy nice gifts but, who knew that the $4 stocking stuffer would be that awesome?! He has carried it everywhere since Christmas. Funny how kids are sometimes the happiest with the little things.

Brotherly love

"Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!"  Psalms 133:1

Project 365. Day 13

2011-1-13 Project 365 006

The girl has an obsession too.  Shoes.  I think she has as many as me!  She is constantly taking them on and off.  She also loves wearing her brother's shoes, mine, and Erick's, whatever she can find.  There will probably be many more shoe pictures too  :-)

Project 365. Day 12

365 day 12
Both the boys are crazy about Legos.  They have a whole room upstairs filled with Legos.  Millions and millions of them!!!  I try not to let visitors see the room because it is scary but the boys are very proud of it and it is the first thing they show everyone.  It has  great potential for being very organized but it usually looks like a tornado hit the room.  I now have a shelving rack with 20 containers on it to put the Legos in based on shapes/functions and all the directions are organized in a dozen containers based on theme.  I actually kind of enjoy sorting the little bricks.  It is kind of therapeutic.  I should do it more ofter :-)  Maybe next time the room gets organized I'll take a picture because it only stays that way for one day!  Well this creation is a Lego mall that Mason made.  You can see people getting their picture taken with Santa on the 2nd story.  I thought it was clever.  I have a feeling there will be a lot more Lego pictures this year :-)

Project 365. Day 11. Reentry

2011-1-11 001

Today was reentry day.  The first day back to school after having 3 weeks off.  One had a harder time than the other.  Thankfully I am still strong and fast  :-)  It all ended well and we celebrated the day with slurpees.
