Florence Cobb Oliver, 1918-2009

Erick's grandma died in her sleep this morning.  She was 91.  We will miss her.  To Erick she was the Yahtzee queen (and much more).  When Erick was in middle school he was "sick" for weeks and stayed with his grandma playing Yahtzee until 1 AM.  She never let him win.  This past Christmas she even taught Mason how to play and she was still good.  She was fun.  She was also sharp as a tack, yet my name always stumped her.  I have known her for 20 years and I don't think she once called me Tasha or Natasha.  I was always Tanya, Trisha, Tish, or Natalie.  After 10 years I stopped correcting her and I decided to like the variation.  She was thoughtful.  She always sent cards to us.  Every time I saw her she said I was thin, no matter how much weight I had gained :-)  She lived in her house in San Diego until this past Christmas when she moved in with Erick's parents.  They took wonderful care of her.  She couldn't have had it better.  Thank you.

Erick has wonderful memories of his Nanan.  We are thankful that we will see her again with Jesus.  We miss her.

  3. Today we added an old photograph of Florence, Ed and MaryAnn (when she was a little girl) to my father's headstone. Then we said a prayer. I am one of Florence's neices and my mother is her sister. Thank you so much for this tribute. I can't wait to show it to my mom. Your Nanan will never be forgotten. God Bless.
