The Most Important Work You Will Ever Do

I am so thankful for my husband in how he leads our family to continually grow in knowledge and love for God more and more.  And I am very thankful for being able to be home with my children.  I get the joy of hearing their many questions about what they experience in life and their questions about God and turn them to the Bible.  What a challenge and a joy!  I'm humbled and honored to be used by God.

I read this great blog post about pastoring your family.  Here is a small bit of it but go read the rest.  It is encouraging!

"Husbands/dads, this is the most important work you'll ever do, and it will have more impact than anything you could imagine. Wives/moms, encourage your man to lead; create conditions in which he can succeed. Couples, be patient and forgiving. Don't be short-sighted. Love well. And savor your time together. May God help us pastor our families well.

Please read the rest of this encouraging brief article written by Justin Hyde on  how he pastors his family by clicking here.  As our boys have gotten older (now 6 and 8) Erick takes each boy to Starbucks for one on one weekly discipleship time too.   As you can imagine with  6 and 8 year old boys, not every time is a picturesque tranquil scene, but every time has been an opportunity to point their heart to God and has been so valuable.  There are many great books to help you direct your time and discussions.  I have a few of our favorites posted on my blog (under the Kids list).

  1. Thanks for this reminder Tasha to be praying for our husbands who lead us daily in worship and devotion time. Satan would love nothing more than to distract them and try and get them busy where there is no time for such things. Our pastor is so passionate about this that he has made it a point to meet with husbands weekly to encourage and pray with them in their roles as they disciple their family. As he reminds these men that this is the most important job they will ever have, he encourges them them that as God has chosen them (individually) to lead and disciple their children, He will give them the wisdom and strength to do it. Even if one feels like he's failed....God can use those failures; even if they are weak...God can and will use the weak. Keep going dad's, it is not time wasted!
